About Your Child

“Mom, I can’t read!”

When you hear these words your heart sinks. You may begin to wonder: Is my child dyslexic? Why is reading so difficult? Does my child need to be taught differently from the way reading is being taught at school? Here is the good news. Students CAN learn to read. Whether a child has dyslexia or is struggling with reading for another reason, an experienced, well-trained reading specialist with expertise in dyslexia knows how to identify your child’s specific learning needs and provide the right kind of individualized reading intervention. Instruction will include the Orton-Gillingham technique in order to “sound out the words,” as well as practice applying those decoding skills to the reading of stories and essays with controlled vocabulary.

Individualized instruction built around each student’s particular learning needs.

Become More Confident

The goal is not simply to help students to unlock the written word, but to help them understand and gain meaning from what they read. This includes explicit training in reading comprehension strategies.

As a result of this targeted, individualized approach, children often feel better about themselves and become more confident, independent learners in school.
